Born in Quito, Ecuador, Santiago first pursued a career as a Computer & Software Engineer, being awarded best graduate student of the engineering faculty, class of 2009. He later became a pilot while remotely developing software, eventually landing his first job as an Airline Pilot, flying the Boeing 767 around the world.

As a self-taught photographer, this career gave him the chance to elevate his craft, capturing the earth from the upper atmosphere. Fascinated by weather phenomena, Santiago specialized in photographing storms and lightning. His stunning images of extreme weather cells over the Pacific Ocean have earned him worldwide recognition. His hardcover photographic book, written in three languages, quickly sold out its print run of over 6,000 copies.

Santiago continues to explore the art of photography from the skies, constantly pushing the boundaries of his passion.
